Mother’s Milk Ice Cream?

September 28, 2008

There is a special report in today’s evening news. This report is about PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is asking the ice cream maker to begin using breast milk in their products instead of cow’s milk. PETA telling the ice cream maker that cow’s milk is hazardous and milking cows for milk is cruel. This idea of course got a cool reception from the Ice CReam manufacturers and even the La Leche League International, the world’s oldest breast-feeding support group gave then a criticise response.

PETA concern for animals is good but this time, I personally felt that this request has gone a bit too far. Let’s set aside the debate whether milking a cow is cruel or not, the concern is how many moms we need to tap in order to be able to  provide enough supplies of milk for the ice cream industry. In addition, I just cannot imaging that i’m having a ice cream which is made from other women’s milk.  A mother’s milk is still best saved it for her baby.
