The day I paid off my loan

March 4, 2011

Today was an not so ordinary day for me. It’s beginning of the month. As usual, I took long queue in front of the Cash Deposit Machine  (CDM) for my loan installment. It took me around 15mins to reached my turn but my payment was rejected by the machine. I went directly into the branch, took the queue number and again, another 15 mins passed wen the Queuing machine counted my turn and instructed me to proceed to counter 6 for my transaction.

At counter 6, I surrendered my installment  money together with the complete filled payment slip to the bank teller and minutes later, I was informed by the teller that he could not process my payment due to my loan account has been closed. I was advised that I have to go to my home branch for the detail. So, without much hesitation, I went directly to the my home branch which was not far from where I was.

There were not many possibilities that I can think of. Could it be my loan installment had been finally settled? but i well remembered there were another 5 to 6 months before my last payment. Maybe it has some technical problems with my account but what was that technical problem? Maybe my home branch has been closed resulted in my account being transfered. I was hoping that its the first possibility.

After about half an hour, I finally reached the branch and sat in front of the branch officer for the verification. Upon checking, the branch officer smiled at me and congratulated me while informing me that my last payment had been payoff on last month. My housing loan with the bank had been settled. I was finally free of loan.

I guess this is something everyone who is taking loan from bank wish to achieve as soon as possible, to payoff their loan. It took me a discipline 10 years to finally paid off my loan. It’s beyond words explanation how easy and relief I was after hearing the words from the bank officer. I’m a freeman now before my next home purchase that will need to engage another loan contract with the bank. Anyway, I should enjoy this loan free period. Take the chance to save the extra money I have.

This is  a day that worth a celebration. This is the day I paid off my loan.
